The 45 MW Raba solar farm is expected to produce enough electricity to cover the annual electricity consumption of nearly 14 000 average households in Estonia. The construction of the power plant in Pärnu County is financed by Swedbank with €17.8 million.
The developers of the Raba solar farm are Sunly – a renewable energy producer – and Metsagrupp – one of the largest landowners in Estonia. The park will be completed by Smartecon and Connecto. Raba will have a capacity of 45 megawatts, making it one of the largest solar parks in Estonia. Construction of the park started in May and will be completed in 2024.
“We are helping to contribute to Estonia’s 2030 renewable energy targets through close cooperation with Metsagrupp in the planning of the park,” said Priit Lepasepp, founder and CEO of Sunly, who said that having the right partners is essential for implementing large-scale projects. Lepasepp added that Smartecon and Connecto are confident that the park will be completed at the agreed pace.
“The most significant impact of the energy sector is carbon emissions, which are considered one of the biggest environmental problems. The solar park being built by Sunly and Metsagrupp is a step towards a cleaner environment. As a bank, we are happy to partner in financing sustainable projects,” said Eero Treumann, Head of Corporate Banking at Swedbank.
The Raba solar park in Pärnu County will be built by Sunly and landowner Metsagrupp. Smartecon will be responsible for the construction and grid connection of the solar park and network testing, while Connecto will carry out the medium and high voltage work. The developers were advised by the law firm Nove in the negotiation of the construction contracts. The construction of Raba park is financed by Sunly, Metsagrupp, and Swedbank.
