Sunly, a renewable energy company based on Estonian capital, has entered the electricity market. Until now focused on developing solar and wind parks and hybrid parks with storage, the company is now offering green electricity at market prices to end consumers — with no hidden markups.
According to Sunly co-founder and CEOPriit Lepasepp, the company aims to make renewable energy beneficial for consumers.“We’ve put together an electricity package that is green and cheaper for consumers compared to competitors, as it doesn’t include the usual retail margin,” said Lepasepp.
Lepasepp is convinced that green electricity doesn’t have to be expensive, and the offering can be simple and transparent: “With Sunly’s electricity package, the customer pays the market price and a fixed monthly fee — no hidden costs. Additionally, we’re working to reduce grid fees in areas where we’re developing parks, which means even lower electricity bills for consumers,” he added.
Flexible Electricity Plans
Sunly offers four electricity plans — S, M, L, and XL — tailored to different consumption levels. For example, the L plan is for private customers with annual consumption between 6,000–12,000 kWh, which adds a fixed €6 monthly fee to the market price.
The smallest S plan has a €3 monthly fee, and the largest XL plan comes with a €9 monthly fee.
Certified Renewable Energy at No Extra Cost
Unlike competitors, Sunly offers guaranteed renewable energy with no added fees.
Sunly’s retail market lead Rasmus Udde explains that the company sells marketbasedelectricity that is certified to match the consumer’s usage with green energy fed into the grid.“Sunly guarantees 100% clean electricity without charging an extra margin,” said Udde.
Local Benefits for Communities Near Wind Parks
In the future, the biggest beneficiaries of local electricity production will be communities near Sunly’s wind parks.“We are reaching a point where we can provide consumers with direct access to the clean energy we produce, ensuring energy security. In development areas, electricity prices could be up to 70% lower compared to the 2024 average,” Udde said.
The Põlendmaa wind park in Pärnu County, currently in its final stages of development, is expected to start supplying cheaper electricity to local residents by 2027. Other wind parks under development include Valga, Lääne-Nigula (Risti), and Väike-Maarja.
Easy Access and Future Plans
Customers can join a Sunly electricity package via the Sunly.ee website. Future services will help reduce electricity costs and identify the best home energy solutions. Sunly will also offer packages for business clients.
Over the past five years, Sunly has built more than 300 MW of renewable energy capacity in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, with plans to add another 700 MW over the next two years.
Sunly’s strategy is to link multiple generation sources to a single connection point, making renewable energy even more affordable for consumers. In the future, the company plans to sell electricity directly from its own production.
