- Location: Rzezawa Municipality, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland, about 40 km east of Kraków
- Size: 60 MW
- Type of production: Solar
Overview
- The solar park spans 50 hectares and has a total capacity of 60 MW.
- Generates approximately 60 000 MWh annually, supplying energy to around 30 000 households.
- The total investment in the project amounts to €33 million.
- Officially launched on September 6, 2023; we have maintained close ties with the community, ensuring ongoing support and engagement.
Spanning 50 hectares,Solar Park Rzezawa stands out not only for its size - remaining among the top ten largest solar farms in Poland even nearly two years after its launch -but also for its advanced technology and strong community collaboration, which has been key to its success.
The key to the region
The Rzezawa Solar Park is designed for maximum efficiency, with solar panels positioned at a 20° tilt and 2.5-meter inter-row spacing to capture optimal sunlight. Advanced remote monitoring systems ensure peak performance and streamline maintenance across the facility.
The project’s scale required the use of 625 kilometers of cabling and 1,700 tons of steel. In collaboration with the Kraków University of Technology, an advanced program was also developed to calculate the capacity and optimal selection of energy storage systems. This is a key step towards increasing the efficiency of energy storage and distribution, as well as ensuring the stability of the Polish electricity system. Possible expanding the farm with energy storage solutions will enable its further development and highlight the importance of hybrid solutions in Poland's energy sector.
In 2024, the park generated 60,000 MWh of clean energy, powering 30,000 households (around 66,000 people). This not only significantly reduces CO₂ emissions by 59,749 tons annually but also has the environmental impact of removing nearly 13,000 cars from the road for a year.
Support for the local community
For Sunly, the true value of the park lies in its benefit to the local community - and this approach is no different with our Polish parks.
We actively listen to the community’s needs and respond to them. In many cases, it’s the local authorities or community representatives who reach out to us with ideas or requests, and we see this dialogue as an essential part of building long-term, meaningful relationships.
A key example of this is our work for local schoolchildren. While these initiatives often have an educational focus - such as teaching children about renewable energy and sustainability - they go beyond that. Across several locations, including libraries and cultural centers, young minds get hands-on experience with renewable energy concepts. These workshops cover everything from solar power and physics to chemistry experiments with water, sparking curiosity and a deeper understanding of sustainability.
But the solar park’s connection with nature goes even further. A cooperation with local beekeepers ensures that biodiversity thrives around the farm, proving that clean energy and the environment can go hand in hand.
Beyond education and biodiversity, the numbers tell an inspiring story: Solar Park Rzezawa helps reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 59 749 tons annually - the equivalent of taking over 13 000 cars off the road each year. This significant impact plays a vital role in Poland’s ongoing green transition, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
