Sunly Tests Technology in Aasanurme for the Baltics’ Largest Solar Park at Risti

The Aasanurme solar park, located in Peipsiääre municipality, has begun production, marking the first time Sunly is testing a tracker system that allows solar panels to follow the sun's movement throughout the day. This same technology will also be used in the 244 MW solar park at Risti, which will be the largest in the Baltics. The goal of the Aasanurme park is to gather early insights into the construction and operation of this innovative solution before the completion of the Risti park.

The Aasanurme solar park consists of two phases. In the first phase, completed in 2023, a solar park with fixed-frame technology similar to Sunly’s previous projects began operations. In the second phase, a solar park equipped with a tracker system was completed, making Aasanurme Sunly’s first project where two different technologies can be compared at the same location. This provides valuable information for future projects, enabling the measurement of output differences between tracker and fixed-frame solar parks.

According to Mirko Nõmmsalu, Sunly’s project manager, the Aasanurme pilot project has been a success. “During the construction and now operation of the Aasanurme solar park, we have identified several important details about the tracker system that can be considered during the construction of the Risti park. These adjustments could make the future largest solar park in the Baltics even more efficient,” Nõmmsalu said.

For Sunly, innovation and increasing the efficiency of energy production are of utmost importance, which is why the project was fully funded from internal resources. The construction partner for the project is Energiapartner.
